Editorial Policy
The Schmidt Report’s aim is to provide both private individuals and small-to medium-sized business with hands-on, action-orientated tax advice covering every aspect of their affairs. This can be summarised as follows:
• To show readers how they can reduce their tax bills by a substantial sum - or even to avoid tax altogether.
• To inspire readers with plenty of new, proven and original ideas, and to leave no possible tax-saving area unexplored.
• To clearly explain how tax can be legally avoided, while at the same time offering details about tax mitigation strategies which may 'sail close to the wind'.
• To keep readers abreast of all the latest tax news and tax developments, and to warn them of any impending changes.
• To highlight little-known tax loopholes.
• To make the whole subject of tax planning easy to understand, and even enjoyable.
A word about tax avoidance and tax evasion
Tax avoidance is perfectly legal and every UK taxpayer (private and corporate) is entitled to take full advantage of the tax laws in such a way as to reduce their tax liability. Tax evasion, on the other hand, is illegal. The Schmidt Report concentrates on providing readers with legal tax avoidance advice. We do not condone tax evasion. However, we do provide regular coverage of illegal tax evasion schemes in order that readers are aware of what is and isn't permissible.
